A lawn care company operating since 1974 left its legacy software. Nothing was lost.
CMS Landscaping spent 25 years on Real Green Systems. Today the office, the field crews, the phones, and the client portal all run on Glide By Blade - with every year of history along for the ride.
The company
CMS Landscaping has served western Massachusetts and northern Connecticut since 1974: recurring lawn care programs, tree and shrub care, and irrigation, with an office team, licensed applicators, and field crews on daily routes.
Like most established lawn care companies, its entire operating history - customers, programs, pricing, applications, invoices - lived inside one legacy industry system for two and a half decades.
The problem with leaving
Switching software is easy to say and brutal to do when 25 years of your business lives in the old system. Customer records, active programs, per-property pricing, and the chemical application history that state compliance depends on - it all has to arrive intact, or the move fails.
That migration risk is what keeps companies paying for software they have outgrown.
The migration: everything came along
Glide By Blade imported the company's full Real Green database - not a summary, the history:
- 38,000+ customer and property records across two states, with measurements and per-property pricing
- Service and program history back to 2001 - every visit, every season, every renewal
- Invoices, payments, and account balances, reconciled
- 32,000+ chemical application records with product, applicator, and site detail, so state compliance reporting continued without a gap
- Applicator licenses, service programs, price charts, and route assignments
Re-imports are repeatable and deduplicated, so the final cutover syncs the last weeks of activity instead of freezing the business for a migration window.
Running the day on Glide By Blade
- Office: scheduling, routing, estimates, invoicing, and statements in one place - 4,100+ serviceable accounts on the live routing map
- Field: techs run GPS-tracked routes on the mobile app with time clock, job photos, and vehicle inspections
- Phone: the business line runs through the platform - 22,000+ calls and roughly 5,000 talk minutes a month, with automatic call transcription for the office
- Clients: a branded portal where customers see their letters, pay invoices, and request services - every printed letter carries a QR code that opens its exact digital copy
- Renewals: prepay renewal letters generate from live program data, print-ready or emailed, with per-customer pricing
- Compliance: chemical application history and applicator reporting, carried over and current
Why this story is different. Glide By Blade was not built in a software office and pitched to landscapers afterward. It was built inside CMS Landscaping, on real routes, real renewals, and real compliance deadlines - and the company bet its own operation on it. Every feature on this site is in daily use at a working lawn care company. That is the product you get.
